N’or is an anthology series highlighting the lived experiences of queer communities in Ethiopia. Every volume is a reflection on a particular subject selected for its importance, inviting both our writers and readers to meditate on the topics close to our hearts.

Volume 4
Reflection
The fourth issue of N’or we explore the idea of reflection. Reflection not only as a look back and careful contemplation but also as a meaning making activity to engage with the past volumes, an opportunity for the team behind the project and past story contributors to be in conversation with the work itself and one another.

Volume 3
Friendship
Our third volume is a meditation on friendships, the life-saving bonds that form the cornerstone of queer lives. From connections that began in the online space to physical relations, these stores capture the systems of support, care and connection that our communities have forged. This edition dives deep on types of relationships that are predicated on mutual care and understanding and their complex manifestations.

Volume 2
Queer Culture
Volume Two of N’or provides a closer look at what queer Ethiopian culture is. Through stories focused on the importance of language, cultural practices, safe spaces, among others, we investigate the myriad ways that LGBTI+ Ethiopians have created, maintained and engaged in the act of meaning-making.

Volume 1
Queer Joy
The first volume of N’or is all about exploring Queer Joy and the multiple ways that it manifests. 26 stories, told in four regional languages, examine what it means for Queer Ethiopians to pursue happiness despite and in spite of the environment they exist in.
